Sponsor a Student
There are four different ways to sponsor one of our students:
Sponsoring our Primary School Children
Children at the local state funded Nyaishozi Primary School are supported through our "basic needs" sponsorship programme. We send £40 per child every year to buy each of these students a school uniform, shoes, school stationery and soap.
Sponsoring Students at State Secondary Schools
Children at the local state funded Secondary Schools in Ruhinda and Rugu are also supported through our "basic needs" sponsorship programme. We send £120 per child every year to buy each of these students a school uniform, shoes, school stationery and soap.
Sponsoring Students at Private Boarding Secondary Schools
Placing a female student in Nyaishozi Boarding School is an expensive commitment, costing £600 a year. We only consider this option as a last resort, where we feel our female student is at high risk. The girls we sponsor there are from extremely desperate situations. Usually they are homeless, orphans who have lost their parents to AIDS or living in terrible distress.
Sponsoring Students at Kagera District Vocational Training Centre
KDVTC is a vocational training centre which offers uneducated young adults the opportunity to train in a worthwhile trade – giving them the skillset they need to make a living for themselves and provide for their immediate family. These two year courses are intensive and have a good reputation within the local community. Their success rate is high. As a result, the fees are above average, compared to other types of education sponsorship. It costs £800 per annum for one young adult to attend KDVTC.
